Photo submissions for LCTA Poetry In Transit

 

For a second consecutive year, Social Fabric Collective is partnering with the Luzerne County Transit Authority’s Poetry In Transit program.

This year’s theme is “A Feast of Words”

Ten final poems were selected by the committee earlier this summer. (see below of a brief summary of each poem).

PHOTOGRAPHY DEADLINE: FRIDAY, JULY 25TH, 5:00PM so the LCTA can design, print, and install the panels inside the buses before the public launch event (where poets and photographers present their work) on September 19th.

After we receive your contact information (form at the bottom) a link to upload your photos will be provided.

Photography Submission Guidelines:

- Photos may be black and white or color.

- Landscape orientation preferred.

- Resolution 300 dpi.

- Format JPGs, PNGs, or TIFs.

Limit: (3) photos per photographer

Summary This Year’s Selected Poems:

  1. "A Woman's Worth" explores themes of housewife/domestic work through imagery of cooking, worn hands and traditional tasks.

  2. "Hair Band Grocery Store Music" captures nostalgia through 80s rock music playing in the grocery store.

  3. "A Lavender Latte" weaves together shared experiences while drinking coffee.

  4. "Sunday Sauce" delves into family tradition, culinary heritage, and the spiritual nature of cooking passed through generations.

  5. "Peach; Morning" connects physical sensation with emotional experience, using fruit as a metaphor for love's sweetness and pain.

  6. "Mangia" celebrates intergenerational cooking traditions and the passing down of family recipes.

  7. "Summer Paradise" paints an idyllic picture of outdoor cooking and simple summer pleasures through sensory-rich imagery.

  8. "Chardonnay Picnics" explores the transition to evening time while relaxing with a glass of wine.

  9. "Coffee in Pasadena" intertwines themes of love and finding direction through personal connection and place.

  10. “Descent” through food imagery “humble pie” the poem explores gratitude and an appreciation for ancestral hardship.
